Top tips for finding your wedding dress

Whether you’ve been picturing your wedding dress since you were five and know every detail you want down to the last sequin, or haven’t thought about it until someone says, “You still haven’t got your gown!” – I have you covered.

I understand that the search for your dream design can be difficult. After all, you’ve probably never tried one on before, and the pressure to look perfect when walking down the aisle is undoubtedly present. However, with the simple tips I have prepared below, you will be able to find THE ONE!

1: Discover your preferred style

If you aren’t sure what you want in a dress just now, it is best to source inspiration from various online platforms like Pinterest, social media, and bridal magazines. After a while, you will notice what you are drawn to – whether it is lace, modern chic design, a particular cleavage, or maybe dresses that have an open back, etc. – just to give you an initial idea.

In addition, I would recommend turning to your wardrobe and lifestyle for ideas too. Notice what kind of dresses you feel most confident and beautiful in. I would also advise you, however, to be open to suggestions, because you never know what type of dress might turn out to be THE ONE. This brings me to the next point:

2: Be open-minded

Wedding consultants will tell you that they frequently see women arrive with a predetermined concept of the type of gown they want, before they put it on and discover that they don’t really love it. Instead, they fall in love with something completely unpredictable!

Be flexible and open-minded when choosing a wedding dress. You might discover that the perfect match is something you never envisioned possible. Trust me, this way, you will have a special experience.

Naturally, you might feel nervous and overwhelmed about a specific bridal gown, but that is completely normal. Later, you will feel empowered and stunned by the experience you have treated yourself with.

3: Shop early, but not too early

Why? Because many gowns require four to eight months to make, and even once they are delivered, you may need additional time for modifications and ornamentation.

If you plan on having a long engagement period, but you start looking for gowns right away – the dress you choose may be outdated by the time your wedding rolls around, or maybe you will find one you like even more!

4: Figure out your budget

Although discussing statistics can be uncomfortable, doing so will spare you a future headache. In essence, having a predetermined number will help you narrow down your choices. It is easier to focus on what is available within your limits than to reach towards something impossible.

5: Pick your wedding dress shopping group wisely

Yes, I know that you love your mother, sister, sister-in-law, maid of honour, and many bridesmaids – nevertheless, if you’ve ever tried to get a group of people to agree on a restaurant, you can only imagine how difficult it will be to pick a bridal gown!

Decide to bring only two or three people whose opinions are most important to you.

6: Have your bridal hair and makeup done

Remember to feel good about yourself! This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, so put on your favourite makeup that makes you feel confident, the hairstyle that makes you feel like you are on top of the world, and simply glow! Enjoy every part of this journey and allow yourself to feel like a goddess in every dress you try.

In the end, it is all about the experience. You must find the perfect bridal boutique, where your wishes will be heard, you will be advised and guided, and you will have all the fun and enjoyment!
